Does the draft's definition reach your group?
Seven answers, one review date, a verdict and three dated actions. The check applies the draft's own test: two or more entities, one controlling member stakeholder with ultimate control of their governing bodies, and a group purpose that controller has set. It does not score your governance, it does not call you compliant, and it does not ask for a file.
- Scope first. Whether the definition is met, not met, or conditional on a fact you still have to confirm.
- The method next. Whether the three aspects, the six-point scale and a recorded group purpose are in place.
- Three requirements to read. Chosen from the record by your answers, with the evidence each one needs.
What ISO/DIS 37014 does, in plain words
It applies the ISO 37004:2023 maturity model to one kind of group: a controlled group of organizational entities, where one member has ultimate control over another member's governing body and sets the group purpose. It adds the vocabulary for that case and a worked example, and it uses ISO 37000:2021 for the principles and governance conditions the model measures.
It is draft guidance in the ISO/TC 309 family. It is not certifiable, it replaces neither ISO 37000 nor ISO 37004, and it creates no transition deadline. The buyer's practical question is narrower: does the definition reach us, which model do we apply, what evidence do we need, and when. That is what this site helps you decide.
Three aspects, five activities, six levels
The model rates every governance dimension on three aspects, runs the evaluation through five activities, and expresses the result on a six-point scale. Read the three pages before you rate anything: most first evaluations fail on the instrument, not on the governance.
The scale and the dimensions
- The six-point scale 5.4
- The 18 dimensions 6.2
- The draft's contents 1 to A.6
One page for each of the 35 model requirements
Each requirement page states the requirement in our own words, what it means inside a controlled group, the evidence an evaluator asks for, the gaps commonly found and the draft's clause heading it sits under. The pages are server rendered, so a reader or a search engine gets the whole record without running anything.
Published yet? No, and the record says why
ISO records the draft at stage 40.60, close of voting, dated 10 June 2026. The ballot opened on 17 March 2026 and ran twelve weeks. The remaining steps are the ballot report, a possible FDIS ballot and publication. ISO has announced no date, so this site uses 15 September 2027 as a planning estimate and labels it as our estimate wherever it appears.
There is no transition deadline. The draft is voluntary guidance, and no certificate is issued against it. What changes on publication is the text you can read: the model, the terms and the worked example move from a draft to a published standard, and a register built on this record should be checked against it.
What the USD 299 kit contains
The kit is a document set, not a subscription. It holds the 35-requirement register, a 15-cell maturity worksheet (three aspects across the five activities), the 39-item evidence list, a dated plan to publication and your next review, the group boundary worksheet and the change statement, as PDF, CSV and XLSX. The register keeps the level found and the level the group decides is appropriate in separate columns, so a deliberate gap has somewhere to live.
Five labelled rows are free and downloadable without an account. The kit arrives by one click to checkout, with no sign-in form before the payment page.
What the change watch does
USD 29 a month. An email when the ISO stage, the dates, the public preview, the terms or the model changes, with the diff that changed it. The watch is for the months around the ballot report and publication, when a register built on a draft needs to know that the text moved. It does not watch your own boundary map, your review dates or your entity list.
Questions buyers ask
What is ISO/DIS 37014?
It is a draft International Standard from ISO/TC 309 on measuring and improving the maturity of governance in a controlled group of organizational entities. It is at stage 40.60, close of voting, and is not published.
Is it the same as ISO 37004?
No. ISO 37004:2023 is the published governance maturity model for groups. ISO/DIS 37014 is guidance on applying that model to a controlled group, and it states that it builds on ISO 37004 and ISO 37000.
Does it apply to my group?
Only if one member has ultimate control over another member's governing body and that controller has set the group purpose. The free check tests the definition and gives a conditional answer where the facts are uncertain.
Is it mandatory?
No. It is voluntary ISO guidance. No market has made it law, and it creates no certification or transition deadline.
When will it be published?
ISO has announced no date. Close of voting was 10 June 2026. This site uses 15 September 2027 as a planning estimate and labels it as our estimate on every page.
What is in the kit?
The 35-requirement register, the 15-cell maturity worksheet, the evidence list, the dated plan, the group boundary worksheet and the change statement, as PDF, CSV and XLSX, for USD 299 one off.
What does the watch do?
For USD 29 a month it emails the diff when the ISO stage, the dates, the public preview, the terms or the model change.
