Model requirement 5.3.5
Action
What ISO 37004:2023 asks at 5.3.5, in our own words, and how it reads inside a controlled group. The draft's public contents heading for it is 5.3 Measurement activities.
What the model asks
When evaluation results arrive, the governing body should: set them beside earlier evaluations; review past and current improvement programmes in the light of them; judge whether the results are right for the organization; find the areas that need improving, rank them, and work out how to make the improvements; report on the results, covering the approach, intent and scope, the results and how they compare, the judged appropriateness and the reasons for it, what past improvement initiatives achieved and what makes the desired level hard to reach, and where attention will go next; and act appropriately on the results and priorities.
What it means when one board controls another
Action is where the group's structure decides whether the result changes anything. A target set for the group that no entity board owns will not move. Assign each improvement to the board that can deliver it, and record where the group and entity plans disagree.
Evidence an evaluator asks for
A maturity rating is a claim about how the group governs. The evidence is what proves it operated. Keep both, and keep them together.
- Action on results: Governing body decisions and report on the evaluation with prioritised improvements
Where evaluations commonly find gaps
- Results received and filed with no comparison, prioritisation or report
How this requirement enters the rating
This unit is one of the five measurement activities. Treat it as a programme step with its own artefact and its own owner, and record the artefact in the evaluation file. The activity page carries what to keep.
It carries 1 evidence item and 1 common gap in the model. One item is enough only if it is the artefact that proves the practice operated, not a policy that says it should. The group application on this page is ours; the requirement and evidence are the model's, stated in our own words.
