ISO/DIS 37014, 5

Governance maturity measurement framework

The draft's public contents entry 5, with what it does, what it means for a controlled group and what to keep. This page is our statement of the public structure and the model, not the draft's text.

01The clause

What this part of the draft does

Clause 5 is the method. It gives the purpose of measurement, nine measurement principles, five measurement activities, the six-point scale and the aggregation rule. Measurement is treated as a governed activity: the governing body commits to it, designs it, implements it, oversees it and acts on the result.

02The practice

What it means when you apply it

The clause is where most first attempts fail. An evaluation run by management without a governing body commitment, on a homemade scale, with no aggregation rule, cannot produce a result the model recognises. The five activities and the nine principles are the quality control.

The clause reference is the draft's public contents heading. From clause 4 onwards the body is not in the free preview, so this page states the public heading, the model it draws on and our own reading, and does not present the draft's text.

03What to record

What to keep beside the evaluation

The programme document: intent, scope, activities, principles applied, instrument, scale, aggregation method and reporting line. A first attempt usually has the instrument and the scale but no programme document, which is why the commitment and design activities are rated before any fieldwork starts.

  • The clause reference and the edition you read, so a later reader can check it.
  • The decision it supports, with an owner and a date.
  • The link to the requirement rows it frames, so the clause is not an orphan page in the file.
