ISO/DIS 37014, 4
Governance maturity aspects for controlled groups
The draft's public contents entry 4, with what it does, what it means for a controlled group and what to keep. This page is our statement of the public structure and the model, not the draft's text.
What this part of the draft does
Clause 4 sets the three aspects against which every dimension is rated: how a governing body behaves, how effective its practices are, and how efficiently they are organised. Behaviour is how the governing body goes about applying a principle, and the draft describes six observable features from adoption to improvement. Effectiveness is how well the practices chosen meet the principle's objective. Efficiency is how well those practices are organised and formalised through the governance components.
What it means when you apply it
The three are rated separately because they fail separately. A board can behave maturely and still run ineffective practices, or run effective practices that are undocumented and inconsistently applied. The model's later scales give each aspect its own level descriptions for exactly that reason.
The clause reference is the draft's public contents heading. From clause 4 onwards the body is not in the free preview, so this page states the public heading, the model it draws on and our own reading, and does not present the draft's text.
What to keep beside the evaluation
The evaluation design naming all three aspects, and the instrument that rates each dimension on each one. A design that rates only one aspect is not the model.
- The clause reference and the edition you read, so a later reader can check it.
- The decision it supports, with an owner and a date.
- The link to the requirement rows it frames, so the clause is not an orphan page in the file.
