ISO/DIS 37014, A.5
Determining appropriateness and setting improvement targets
The draft's public contents entry A.5, with what it does, what it means for a controlled group and what to keep. This page is our statement of the public structure and the model, not the draft's text.
What this part of the draft does
The contents list names the appropriateness decision and the targets. In the model, the governing body decides what level is appropriate for each dimension in the group's context, then sets targets and priorities against the gap. The draft body is not public.
What it means when you apply it
Appropriateness is a judgement the governing body makes and records. It depends on the entity's purpose, its risk and its obligations, not on an industry average.
Appropriateness is the step that turns a measurement into a decision. The example records the reason for each appropriate level, which is what a board needs when it is asked why one entity is assessed at a different level from another.
The clause reference is the draft's public contents heading. From clause 4 onwards the body is not in the free preview, so this page states the public heading, the model it draws on and our own reading, and does not present the draft's text.
What to keep beside the evaluation
The appropriateness decision per dimension, the targets, the priority order and the owner of each initiative.
- The clause reference and the edition you read, so a later reader can check it.
- The decision it supports, with an owner and a date.
- The link to the requirement rows it frames, so the clause is not an orphan page in the file.
The annex body is not in the public preview. This page describes the step the draft's contents list names and the method in ISO 37004:2023 clause 6.5, and labels it as such.
